The British
Horseracing Education and Standards Trust (BHEST) is a
registered Charity responsible for delivering the Racing to School
education programme. Racing to School uses the context of the
racing industry to support and enhance children and young
people's studies of National Curriculum subjects through
outdoor activities in the unique setting of racecourses,
trainers' yards and studs.
Racing to School supports young people's learning and invests
in racing's future. The programme is endorsed by teachers and
schools and supports over 10,000 children and young people to
access educational activities at their local racecourse each year.
Racing to School helps to spark the interest of children and young
people in the sport - 85% of the pupils that participate in Racing
to School are first-time race-goers. It also opens minds to the
many different career opportunities in the racing industry and
equips children with a range of skills for work.
Racing to School runs at nearly every racecourse in the UK and is a
free and inclusive programme supporting children and students of
all ages and backgrounds, including children from deprived and
inner city areas and children with special educational needs.
BHEST is also responsible developing and awarding nationally
recognised qualifications that provide the practical grounding for
people to build a future in the horseracing, thoroughbred breeding
and farriery industries.
BHEST relies on donations to keep running Racing to School. To
