Yeehaw! Saddle Up for a Rootin’ Tootin’ Time at Southwell’s Country & Western Raceday This Saturday
Dust off your cowboy boots and grab your stetsons – Southwell Racecourse is getting a star-spangled Western makeover this Saturday, 31st May, for its unmissable Country & Western Raceday!
With gates opening at 14:50, it’s a whole afternoon and evening of thrills both on and off the track. Whether you’re a die-hard racing fan or just looking for a good ol’ time with friends and family, this event promises live music, high-energy entertainment, and thrilling flat racing all wrapped up in a Southern-style shindig.
Giddy Up for the Racing Action
The first of seven exciting races kicks off at 16:20, with the final one galloping off at 19:25. Expect high stakes and high speed on the all weather track as horses and jockeys battle it out across a packed evening schedule.
A Little Bit Country, A Whole Lotta Fun
Between the second and third, third and fourth, and fifth and sixth races – the stage belongs to a Dolly Parton tribute act and a troupe of foot-stomping line dancers. Expect rhinestones, sing-alongs, and plenty of two-steppin’ as the queen of country (well, almost!) brings Nashville to Nottinghamshire.
And the party doesn’t stop when the races end – the music and dancing will continue for up to an hour after the final race, keeping the hoedown alive into the evening.
What to Wear
Channel your inner cowboy or cowgirl – think denim, fringe, flannel, boots, and hats. Whether you go all-in with a full Western get-up or just add a touch of the theme, there’ll be plenty of photo oppurtunities to show off your style.

Pull on your boots, grab your hat, and strut your stuff – we’re on the hunt for the best dressed cowboys and cowgirls at the racecourse!
Our judges will be roaming throughout the day, looking for standout Western outfits.
