Tickets can be bought online before and during each fixture on the day of racing.
Can I purchase extra tickets on the day?
Yes! Online ticket sales are open during each fixture and can be used to purchase tickets on the day of racing. You can also buy a ticket on the gate via card payment only.
Do I save money if I book in advance?
Yes! Typically the earlier you can book the cheaper the tickets will be with early bird discounts. However, if you also book your ticket within 48 hours of the fixture you might get a discount but only if the fixture has not sold out and don’t book late for key fixtures and events to avoid disappointment.
Do you offer a group discount?
Yes, all groups of 10 people or more will get a discount. Choose your tickets online and then select the group package at checkout and it will automatically apply the discount. *This is only valid for certain fixtures.
When and how will I receive my tickets?
All tickets are sent via email. This includes tickets for restaurant and hospitality bookings. They are sent out two weeks before the fixture you booked. If the tickets were booked within two weeks of the fixture, these will be emailed immediately. Check your junk folder as well just in case before getting in touch.
Can I collect my tickets on the day?
No, tickets are only sent out by email. The only exception to this is for personal assistant tickets which need to be collected on the day.
Do I need to print my tickets?
No, don’t worry about having to print your tickets. We can scan them from your mobile phone or tablet. If you prefer to print them off and bring them along in paper format this is also fine.
Can I transfer / refund my tickets or packages?
No, we don’t offer refunds or transfers. If a fixture is abandoned due to weather or course conditions or an event is cancelled due to something out of our control then we will transfer or refund tickets. Please see our terms and conditions of entry for full details.
Can I transfer between Enclosures?
Yes, as long as there is space available, you can upgrade your ticket to another enclosure on the day. Please visit the racecourse office.
Can children come racing?
We’re a friendly racecourse at Southwell and welcome children and families. Children aged 17 and under go free to the races when accompanied by an adult (some exclusions apply for Festival fixtures and Live After Racing events). Up to three children under 17 can come with one paying adult.
How do I redeem a Gift Voucher?
Choose which fixture and date you'd like to attend on our website and add the ticket to your basket. At the checkout, enter your unique Gift Voucher code for full or part payment in the 'Add Gift Voucher Code' field.
For restaurants and hospitality packages this needs to be booked on the phone not online:
Call us on 01636814481 with your gift voucher number to hand. Your gift voucher can be used as full or part payment and any balance left will be credited to your account to use at a future event. We will email your tickets to you as normal.
How do I use/sign up for Rewards for Racing?
Rewards4Racing is an award-winning rewards programme. Sign up via their website today and start to collect points when shopping online with over 4,000 retail partners. These points can then be used for days out at Southwell Racecourse and are a great way to save money.
Points can also be collected on sports bets with four betting partners - bet365, Betfair, Betfred and Coral. Sign up for an account with them if you don’t have one already via the Rewards4Racing website and deposit today to collect an extra £20 worth of points.
What discounts and concessions do you offer?
We offer £3 off to seniors aged 60+ and students. This discount is applied against the on the day ticket price and is only available on Grandstand tickets. Tickets must be purchased on the gate where proof, such as a valid NUS card, passport or bus pass, may be requested.
Do you offer a discount to NHS and key workers?
Yes, we are delighted that emergency services, NHS, social care sector and armed forces, can apply for a free ticket to come racing at Southwell via the Bluelight website. Some exclusions apply.
Third-Party Vouchers
Customers who have vouchers from third-parties must redeem these at least two weeks before the fixture they wish to attend.
Times of the Day
What time do gates open?
Typically, we open the gates two hours to 90 minutes before the first race and we have plenty of food and drink outlets to enjoy before the racing starts. For feature fixtures, gates may open earlier.
Check the what’s on fixture page for the date you’re attending for the most up-to-date time, as race times are subject to change.
What time is the last race and when will the racecourse close?
Races will take place at different times and can also change last minute, so please check your specific fixture on our website.
Typically, the racecourse, along with bars and food outlets, will close shortly after the last race. For Live After Racing nights or themed racenights with music after racing, the live act will perform for an hour to 90 minutes after the last race and the racecourse will close shortly after the performance.

What do I need to wear?
We have lots of information about what to wear on our dress code page of the website. Please click here. In brief, we don’t have a strict dress code but most racegoers choose a smart casual outfit. We discourage sportswear and ripped jeans and offensive fancy dress is not allowed.
How do I get to the racecourse?

Do you accept coach parties?
Yes, absolutely, we welcome coach groups to the racecourse. On arrival, coaches will be directed to our allocated coach parking. The coach driver can also join in the fun as we offer all coach drivers free entry!
Food & Drink Allowances
What bars and food concessions will be open?
We have plenty of outlets selling food and drink so you will always have a good choice. Different bars and food outlets will be available depending on how busy the fixture is likely to be.
Are picnics allowed?
Yes, picnics can be brought into the racecourse, on any raceday and can be consumed in any outside area. Alcohol, glassware and metal knives are not permitted. Any alcohol attempted to be brought onto site will be confiscated. The Racecourse provides free drinking water at all bars across the site.
Are barbecues allowed?
No, we don’t allow barbecues to be used at the racecourse.

How accessible is your racecourse?
We do all we can to ensure our visitors enjoy their day. This includes making our venue an easily accessible place and adding in extra features to make guests comfortable wherever possible. Click here for more information.
What do you offer Personal Assistants?
Personal assistants will receive free admission to the racecourse when accompanying a paying guest with accessibility needs.
Personal Assistant tickets can be claimed by bringing in proof of accessible needs on the day of racing e.g. Disability Living Allowance (DLA), Personal Independence Payment (PIP), Attendance Allowance (AA) or Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP). Personal Assistant Tickets will be available to collect from the entrance on arrival. Please note you must provide supporting documentation.

All About Betting & Payments
Do you have cash machines?
No, Southwell is a cashless site. All catering and bars accept debit or credit card payments only. The tote, along with bookmakers do accept cash payment and some may also accept debit card payments (no credit cards). So please bring cash with you if you would like to bet in cash.
Where can I place a bet on course?
We have full details about betting at the racecourse, but in brief we have a selection of places to choose from to place a bet across the site. We have the tote and bookmakers who will take your bets.
How do I get a race card?
Download your free, digital racecard on the morning of racing here. Printed racecards are also available at the racecourse on the day.
What payment method do you accept?
All bars and food outlets are cashless and take card and contactless payments only. However bookmakers and the tote will still accept cash payments. We don’t have any cash machines at Southwell racecourse, so please bring cash with you if this is your preferred payment method with bookmakers.
Your Raceday Guide
Is there seating available?
Unless you have booked a ticket with a reserved seat included, a restaurant package or hospitality option, there is only limited seating available at Southwell Racecourse and the majority will be outside. We do have some seating inside the betting hall also.
Can I bring a chair?
Yes, feel free to bring your own chairs into the racecourse for all fixtures.
Can I smoke and where?
Smoking and vaping are only allowed in the allocated smoking areas across the racecourse. Smoking and vaping are not permitted in the grandstands.
Do you offer wheelchair viewing?
Yes, we have two wheelchair viewing ramps so you never miss any of the action. One over looks the parade ring and the other faces the track towards the winning post.
Does the weather affect the racing?
Yes, turf tracks are affected by the amount of rainfall as this will change the ‘Going’ at the racecourse. The going is the condition of the racing surface and how ‘hard’ or ‘soft’ the ground is. Different horses enjoy different ground conditions and therefore the going reports are vital for a horse’s trainer and owner in deciding when and where a horse should run.
The health and safety of all participants and horses is our top priority. If the racing surface is deemed unraceable (this could be due to waterlogging, frozen surfaces or even too hard a surface) or extreme weather conditions are unsafe, a fixture will be abandoned. If this happens, customers will be alerted and the information will be available immediately on our website – there is no need to call.
Full or partial refunds will be automatically provided according to our refund policy, available on our terms and conditions of entry.
What items can't I bring into the Racecourse?
Knives/Lethal weapons, Alcohol, Illegal Drugs, Fireworks, Glass are all forbidden at the racecourse. Our policy is not to allow metal cutlery into our racecourse, if this is brought in we will offer customers the choice of returning it to their car, or having it confiscated and disposed of.

Dogs
Can I bring a dog?
No, dogs are not allowed into Southwell Racecourse unless they are a Guide Dog of the Blind or another Assistance Dog. In the interests of animal welfare, don’t leave your dog in the car, all dogs need to left at home.
Photography
Can I take photographs?
Yes, everyone is welcome to take photographs for personal non-commercial use only. Please just don’t use flash photography near the horses.
During live music and entertainment, the artists' management retain all image rights. Any photographer that is felt to be impeding or contravening these rights without accreditation and prior written consent will be asked to leave. You cannot take images for commercial purposes without prior permission from the racecourse and provision of press accreditation.

Professional filming and photography takes place at Southwell racecourse for various publications and broadcast outlets. Race goers (including families) consent to being filmed, photographed and otherwise recorded by the Racecourse or any authorised third-party.
